My friend Suzen is one of my favourite artists, and not just because we’ve been friends for 10 (!) years. She’s just so brilliant! Take a look at her latest project. Saying, “a hooked mat self-portrait” is too simplistic; you have to read her post. Her work is so fun, playing with exaggerated proportions often. I also love how often she examines the concept of Home and how it relates to identity – it’s something close to me as well.
Also, the first image in her post made me realize I never posted a recent self-portrait I took.

My face is a dot-matrix printout from 1980. I don’t know why it exists, but there are several of them out there in the world and I’ve carried this around with me from apartment to apartment. It’s one of my most cherished possessions because it’s so weird.
My self-portrait and Suzen’s self-portrait are good friends as well!
