In 2008 & 2009 I watched my building’s closed circuit security channel and photographed people coming and going. These are the 20 best photos, but I wish I’d taken more. It was so interesting to see how people acted in this not-so-private space, especially when they knew they were being watched, either by me or someone else in the building.
I suppose I’ve always been interested in the perception of privacy. It’s like my neighbours in the building across the road. Many of them never close their living room curtains. J & I don’t either. Are we then still living in a private space? Actually, I hated the idea of people being able to see into my apartment until we moved here, where there is a great distance between us and neighbours across the street.
This could link into why I’ve been blogging since I was a teenager, and why I have always had a difficult relationship with it – the ultimate in perceived privacy. A post for another day, perhaps.

Creepy and wonderful. I love the film-still composition. I wonder who these people are. :)
Thanks! Some of them are my friends, but the others – I wonder who they are too.
